Lower Elementary Program

Open to all children ages 6 - 9

Critical thinking and hands-on building are the cornerstones of the Lower Elementary program. Through project-based learning, students tackle real-world challenges and apply their knowledge to create innovative solutions. This practical approach instills confidence in students, deepens their problem-solving capabilities, and also trains their minds to think creatively and analytically.

Each year the curriculum will build upon itself, starting with foundational concepts and gradually introducing more complex ideas.

Through carefully tailored activities that align with each child's unique developmental path, students develop a robust foundation of knowledge, independence and a strong work ethic.

By the end of the Lower Elementary program, and with a solid grounding in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), students will be well-equipped to tackle the challenges of the future, with the skills and mindset of true problem solvers and builders.

Curriculum

Ad Astra emphasizes individualized instruction, focusing on individual learning styles and pace. This child-centered approach allows teachers to tailor their teaching methods to the needs of each student, to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.

Ad Astra teachers focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) concepts and principles. Ad Astra is not a Montessori school, but we value the experience that our Montessori-trained educators bring. Their experience in child-centered learning fosters critical thinking skills by providing a learning environment that helps students develop the skills necessary to think critically, solve problems, and make informed decisions.
